The Energy Eye HM from MachineSens IoT is an ultrasonic heat meter for thermal energy measurement. It measures hot water flow and the temperature difference between inlet and return pipes, then calculates heat energy. It connects over M-Bus or RS-485 (Modbus) and feeds the BuildOT One platform.

What the Ultrasonic Heat Meter does

  • Measures thermal energy. Flow and delta-T combine into heat energy readings per loop or tenant.
  • Uses ultrasonic flow sensing. No moving parts to wear in the flow path.
  • Senses temperature accurately. PT1000 sensors read inlet and return temperatures.
  • Checks itself. Self-diagnosis helps flag meter faults early.
  • Runs on battery. Up to 6 years of battery life reduces power wiring needs.

Where it is used

Typical uses include heat metering in residential buildings, retail units and hospitality sites across the UAE and GCC, where hot water or heating loops need fair allocation of thermal energy. It suits small to mid-size pipes from DN15 to DN40.

Works with BuildOT One

Heat readings flow into the Energy and Utilities module alongside electricity and water data, and into the Measurement and Verification module for project checks. See the sustainability product range and the full Energy Eye range. For clamp-on flow and energy measurement, see the FlowCheck ultrasonic flow converter. For water flow, see the AquaSense EM LoRaWAN water flow meter.

Frequently asked questions
