The Smart Odor Sensor from MachineSens IoT is a battery powered sensor that monitors washroom air quality. It detects amine and sulfur gas odors and also measures temperature and humidity. It connects over LoRaWAN and sends data to the BuildOT One platform, so cleaning follows actual conditions in UAE and GCC buildings.

| Specification | Detail |
|---|---|
| Measures | Amine and sulfur gas odors, temperature, humidity |
| Connectivity | LoRaWAN (EU868) |
| Platform | BuildOT One |
What the Smart Odor Sensor does
- Detects odor gases. Amine and sulfur compounds are the main sources of washroom smells.
- Adds comfort data. Temperature and humidity help explain why odors build up.
- Triggers cleaning. A rising odor level sends a task to the cleaning team.
- Proves service quality. Trends show whether a clean actually fixed the problem.
Where it is used
Washrooms in malls, airports, hotels, offices and hospitals where visitors judge the whole building by the state of its washrooms.
Works with BuildOT One
Odor alerts become tasks in FM360. Air readings also support Air Quality and Wellbeing. The sensor is part of the Smart Washroom solution, and works well with the People Counting Sensor.
Frequently asked questions
Which gases does it detect?
The Smart Odor Sensor detects amine and sulfur gas odors.
Why clean on odor and not on a fixed round?
Washrooms get dirty at different speeds. Odor data sends staff where it is needed.
Does it measure anything else?
Yes. The Smart Odor Sensor also measures temperature and humidity, and it connects over LoRaWAN (EU868).
